Wedded Bliss

Fulloutfitdscf5494 Here is the outfit which I completed days before my sons wedding at the end of July.  The cardigan is an adaptation of Annie Modesitt's pattern seen in Interweave Crochet, Spring 2006, called the Lacy Leaf Cocoon.  The skirt is an adaptation of Stitch Diva's hairpin lace skirt.  The camisole is my own design.

Camisole and Skirt

Jacketduringconstruction During Construction, hence the turquoise t-shirt!

This was truly a work of love.  I thoroughly enjoyed making each part of the outfit.  The whole thing took from April to the end of July to complete.  I used many different yarns in all three pieces - about 8 different ones in total, and found that they each looked different depending on what I was using them for.  The hairpin lace was something I had never tried before, but the Stitch Diva pattern was particularly good to work from, and I found it easy to adapt to the different tensions which were created using the different years.  So much fun to put the strips together afterwards and 'build' the skirt.

The camisole was created because when I finished the outfit, and tried it on, I wasn't satisfied with the camisole I had a tailor make for me, using a silk which I also used as a liner for the skirt.  I had a week to complete the cami, so I did a lot of knitting that last week, but strangely I didn't feel a bit stressed.  Probably because the back-up was in my closet if it didn't work.
