A Sweater for the Big C

Forwebwholedscf5823 Forwebwhole2dscf5831 Forwebtrimdscf5827

Finally decided to spend a bit of time at the blog.  Been months now - actually since the wedding.

I've been knitting whenever I have time, and have finished the baby sweater for C.  Took it out to Calgary with me, and it fits him - just.  That child is BIG.  But soooooo adorable.  I didn't take any photos of him wearing the garment, (well, I did, but they look terrible, so maybe Bel will insert one for me)so my little one-armed doll will have to do.

The sweater is based on the Einstein construction, but using a different stitch, and trimming it to look like a little 'mohawk', with lots of little icords.  There is icord trim all around the sweater, as well as on the sleeves, and hood and used for closure at the neck.  I used Lorna's Laces Swirl DK in the colour Motherlode.  Loved working with this yarn.  It is so soft and looks beautiful knit up.  I have this pattern almost written up in size 18-24 months.

I'm also working on a few older projects.  A koigu shrug/sweater in 8 colours which I love.  I'll finish the knitting today, and then the construction hopefully in the next couple of days.

Haven't heard anything back from Interweave, so I'm guessing my submissions were rejected.  Again.  Trying not to let that bother me, but it does.  I think I need to start my own magazine!

So ... tired...

Hm. It figures. We finally get C to start sleeping through the night, and I am more tired than ever. My body is catching up for the last 9 1/2 months, I guess. I always swore I would never do the Ferber thing, but we realized that now is probably the best time to do it - before he can stand in his crib and cry out, "Mom-my!!" He went from sleeping for 5 hours at a time, TOPS, to 12 hours. However, naps are still a struggle. I have been driving myself crazy trying to get him to nap in the afternoon. It's so ridiculous how worked up I get over a nap. So, it's time to put a time limit on it, and if it's not happening, just take him out of his crib and that's that.

On the knitting front, I finished a present for Angela that I can't show or talk about incase she reads this. Now I am working on a sweater in Rowan Ribbon Twist that has been in my stash for about 2 years. I am so excited that I am a) working with a yarn from my stash, and b) going to finish it soon because it's about 9 stitches/4". The flipside, of course, is that my wrist isn't so happy with this project.

Going to sleep now. Good night!

Holiday Knitting...DONE!

At last, my Christmas knitting is DONE! The only thing getting any attention from me now is my Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton skirt... only a few more centimetres of K1P1 ribbing and then I am done. Luckily, Ma put us on to Prison Break, so I am not dying of boredom while knitting this. I will include pictures of the knitting, which is made up of: Make-Believe Crowns (Nicholette Hoyer, Interweave Knits, Summer 2006, webKNITS), Baby's First Ball (Knitting For Baby), Sleepyhead Slippers (Lucinda Guy, And So To Bed), Ballband Dishcloth (Mason-Dixon Knitting), Reverse Bloom Flower Washcloth (Melanie Falick, Weekend Knitting), and Spherey (Jess Hutchison, Unusual Toys to Knit and Enjoy)Dscf0024a Dscf0026a Dscf0067a_1 Dscf0127a . Some holiday photos are also thrown in. Dscf0007fa Dscf0008a Dscf0009a
